Risenshine Seaside Tops Blooded Horse Summer Sale at $75,000

Open Pacer Risenshine Seaside topped the 69th Annual Blooded Horse Sale held at the Champions Center in Springfield, Oh. Racing competitively in Pennsylvania and Ohio, the impressive son of Downbytheseaside had already earned $58,465 in 14 starts this year for consignor Burke Racing Stable. Cory Kreiser of Pittsburgh was quite familiar with the handsome bay gelding he purchased for $75,000 and hopes he continues his winning ways. The Burke Racing consignment also featured the solid Hoosier Park conditioned pacer, Flirtin JK that was purchased by William Hart of Maine for $38,000.

Sale runner-up honors belonged to another Open Pacer, Odds On Blockchain consigned by Spring Haven Farm, agent. Purchased for $45,000 by Luke Hanners of Ohio, the son of JK Endoranera sports lifetime earnings of $202,431 with $66,120 racing this year in Kentucky.

The yearling portion of the sale represented the first opportunity for horsemen to get started on next year’s dreams. Interest was strong and the crowd diverse with the 139 yearlings going to buyers from 14 states and Canada. Pump Action, a classy bay son of Ohio stalwart Long Tom was purchased by Rosy Weaver of Ohio from Walnut Valley Equine for $29,000. Dublin Valley Farm’s brought a nice consignment that was led by the What The Hill colt, Dublins Sidney, purchased for $28,000 by Dalton Walls of Greenville, OH. Midland Acres’ well turned out consignment included the filly Nice Set of Pipes from the first crop of Summa Cum Laude. She was purchased by Dana Parham for $22,000.

Yearlings will again be featured at the Blooded Horse Fall Sale Wed. Nov. 20, along with a wide variety of racehorses and breeding stock. Black Type Yearling entries close Oct. 12 and main catalogue mixed entries close Wed. Oct 23.
